Ukhimath and Omkareshwar Temple

Ukhimath is a town in the Mandakini valley. The Omkareshwar temple here is the winter home of Lord Kedarnath and Lord Madhyamaheshwar, so worship continues through the snowbound months. The temple also carries the story of Usha and Aniruddha.

How to reach

Ukhimath lies on the road from Rudraprayag towards Guptkashi. It is a common overnight stop for Kedarnath and Deoria Tal.

Best time

Year round. Winter is cold but the town stays accessible.

• Use it as a base to reach Sari village for Deoria Tal.
