Rudraprayag Sangam
About
Rudraprayag is the meeting point of the Alaknanda and Mandakini rivers and is counted among the Panch Prayag, the five sacred confluences of the Alaknanda. The town is also the junction where the roads to Kedarnath and Badrinath divide, which makes it a natural stop on the way to Chopta, Ukhimath and Guptkashi.
How to reach
Rudraprayag lies on the Rishikesh to Badrinath highway and is the usual road link from Rishikesh or Haridwar to Chopta.
Best time
Year round. The monsoon can bring landslides on the highway.
Tips
- Visit the Sangam viewpoint steps at the confluence and be careful near the water.
- Stock up on cash and supplies here before heading higher.
